Simon Pryce (aka ‘the Red Wiggle’) met Lauren Hannaford on tour. The former elite gymnast – who’d go on to play Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Dorothy the Dinosaur (if you’re not familiar with The Wiggles, don’t worry about it) – was touring as a dancer with the popular children’s group.
“Lauren was one of the fittest people I’ve ever seen,” Pryce tells 9Honey.
He turns to his wife.
“I was just amazed, and blown away by your athletic ability and your talent.”
“I thought, ‘Geez he’s tall, and he’s so nice!'” Hannaford says.
“He was so welcoming of me in this world that felt so foreign to me at the time – just really comforting.”
Ask any couple what they love most about each other and you get a touching response, sure. To see both of them moved to tears is slightly less common.
When Hannaford tells Pryce how grateful she is for his constant support and encouragement, he starts to cry. (I’m not making this up – watch the video.)
“You have the biggest heart,” he tells her.
“You’re so generous to everybody around you – and that smile, that beautiful heart – it’s just a joy, every single day.”
“This is ridiculous!” she says, and promptly starts crying as well.
